IRONCLAD

WARNING THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS

Right so it’s been ages since i actually posted something about film, so here it goes… if you’re just sitting there doing nothing, probably thinking what film to watch, i have a suggestion for you. Do you like medieval films like (Kingdom of Heaven, First Knight, Robin Hood)? Do you like realistic films? Then IRONCLAD is for you, one of the best medieval films I’ve seen in a while, ok it is a bit clichéd i must confess, but still how many films have you seen where characters are slaughtered to bits. There is a scene in the film where Marshal(JAMES PUREFOY) cuts a Danish mercenary in half with a broadsword. I haven’t seen something like this in AGES…

The film has it’s downsides in terms of narrative… KING JOHN is being dethroned by the church and now he wants it back, now Marshal, a peaceful Crusader needs to defend the ROCHESTER castle together with Albany (Brian Cox) and other skilled swordsmen against KING JOHN (Paul Giamatti) and his army of Danish mercenaries… but the way Jonathan English directs is pretty good, and plus you don’t expect some of the main characters to die at some points in the film.

The film is good, and i fully encourage you guys to watch it even as a late night Sunday film, but not if you don’t like to see people being cut in half and a lot of medieval GORE!

MY RATING IS: 7.5/10
